newspaper hockey

For this game you need, 1 ball made from scrunched up newspaper wrapped in masking tape or duct tape and 2-4 newspaper bats. To make the bats, roll your newspaper into a cilinder it works best if you use a whole paper, then wrap this in the above mentioned tapes! Make sure that the bats are wrapped well as they tend to fall apart if too much of the newspaper is over exposed. This game can be used if you have at least 6 players. Split your group into 2 even teams. Give each member of each team a number i.e. if you have 6 people per team then number them from 1-6. once you have your teams ready, place the newspaper ball in the middle of the room with the bats on either side of it. Have goals set up at either end of the room, we just use a couple of chairs for this and because there is a smaller space between the chair legs it makes it a lot more challenging! When the room is set up, just simply call out numbers and watch your youth run into the middle of the room grab the bats and hit the ball towards the designated goal. (Obviously you would tell each team which set of goals they are going for). You have at your discretion the ability to call out any number at any time and when another number is called out the youth who are playing must drop their bats and allow the next numbered person to start playing. The team with the highest score at the end of the match wins! This game is great fun, excellent exercise and wears youth out in no time flat! The crazier you are with changing players in middle the more fun it is!

Our kids had fun, though the newspaper sticks and "ball" wore out pretty quickly. A lot of paper and tape for a quick game.

    Overall, fun.
