Fruits

Written by
Everyone sits in a circle. Go around the circle and have everyone pick a fruit. After that tell them they have to say their fruit and then someone elses fruit. (example: say,"watermelon- orange." and the person who is orange wil say,"orange-apple." and then the person who is apple says,"apple-peach." , etc....). Here is the catch, everyone has to say it without showing their teeth or touching their lips to their tongue.(Eaxmple: everyone looks like old people with out their teeth). They have to stay like that through the hole game until they are out or they win. If you see someones teeth, they are out. It is so funny. It really is hard not to laugh. The youth play it all the time.

Assassin

Written by
Assassin: A muderer who strikes suddenly. This game is really easy and very fun but can only be played like 5 or 6 times then it gets boring, but each time can take up to 15 minutes. You have everyone sit on chairs or on the floor in a circle. You need plastic spoons for each person and mark one spoon with a black mark. Hand them out and the Person with the mark is the Assassin. The job of the assassin is to assassinate everyone before people find out who the assassin is. The way he kills is to wink at someone when they make eye contact. When the person sees that he/she has been winked at(assassinated) they must throw their spoon in the middle of the circle and say" I've been assassinated". They cannot speak for the rest of the game. When someone sees the assassin kill somone they raise their hand and say "I have an accusation, who will agree with me?" Then somone must say " I will" when that accuser has a partner they then say who they think it is. If it is not the assassin and the accuser is wrong both the accuser and accuser's partner must then throw their spoons in the middle of the circle and cannot speak till the game is over. This makes it hard to get a partner because you dont know who they'll pick and if they're wrong the partner forfets his/her spoon. This game keeps going till the assassin is obviously the last one or someone sees him/her winking at somone. No one can accuse any one of being the assassin till the assassin kills somone at the beginning of the game. I've played this game tons of times and my youth group loves it, its fun because everyone is in a circle and is smiling at each other and waiting to be assassinated and plus it brings a friendly atmosphere to newcomers getting to know everyone's faces and names.

Starburst Unwrapped

Written by
A simple ice breaker game: See who can completely unwrap a starburst candy first. The trick? The players cannot use there fingers. The wrapped candy goes into the mouth to be unwrapped. Players using fingers are disqualified. Players must produce a whole wrapper (or all the pieces) to win. Have trash bins or bags handy as some players may gag.

frozen t-shirt

Written by
Take a few t-shirts (usually one with your student ministry logo or a recent evnet shirt) soak in water, fold, then freeze them for at least 24 hours. Bring the shirts out and ask for volunteers. have the volunteers race to put the t-shirts on. The next 10-20 minutes will be hilarious as everyone watches the students struggle to get the shirt on. Give the participants the shirt at the end of the game. This works well as a game to get things started at youth services or at any other event.

Duckie Wuckie

Written by
Everyone sits in a circle with one person standing in the middle. The person in the middle is blindfolded and has a rolled up newspaper. He is spun around as everyone else changes seats (they must be silent...ha ha). The person blindfolded finds a person in the circle only by means of the newspaper. Once found the blindolded person says "duckie wuckie." The person found must say in a disguised voice, "quack quack." This may be repeated twice more. After each "quack quack" the blindfolded person may guess the identity of the voice. If correct the voice gets blindfolded, if incorrect the blindfold must go to another person and try again.

Follow The Story

Written by
I did this one day as a game time. I had all the youth get in a circle and I had the first one to my left start the Story, the story would be lets tell about Jesus. We got into the very details of His birth Who? What? When? Where? all the way to the Resurrection. I mean detailed too. So the first person would start once they were stumped the next one went until they were stumped (stumped meaning either forgot or missed a detail). We had fun with this and thought I would share it with you all. If you need more info on this email me. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Popcorn 10

Written by
An extremely simple game that will keep the group busy for five to ten minutes. All they have to do is count to ten as a group. Only one person can say a number at a time. If two kids say a number at the same time, you start back at zero. Once sombody shouts out a number, they can't say another until the group starts over. They can't point to the next person to go, and they can't go in order of how they are sitting. It sounds to easy to be fun, but it's actually quite difficult and the kids will have a blast.

Blow Cup Relay

Written by
Give each team a fifteen-foot piece of string with a sliding paper cup on the string. The string is held tight (works good if you tie it to a chair) and the paper cup is placed at one end. The team lines up single file. At the signal, each player must blow the cup to the other end (with hands behind hisher back) and then push it back to the start for the next player. The first team to finish wins.

Extreme Tic Tac Toe

Written by
Extreme Tic Tac Toe is a challenging game that requires team cooperation. First off, you'll need to make your board on the floor big enough for the number of people you have. If you have 7 or 8 players, use a 3x3 tic tac toe board (total of 9 squares). For 9-15 players use a 4x4 tic tac toe board (16 squares). I use tape on the floor to make my squares. OBJECT OF THE GAME is to get 3 or 4 in a row depending on how many squares you have to side. The game is played just like Tic Tac Toe until one team gets four in a row. When all the players have played and no one has won, then the players start moving to an empty square, alternating turns per team until one of two possibilities happen: 1) a team gets four in a row or 2) the other team can't step into a empty square. Clarifications: A person may step into a square in any direction that is next to the box they are currently in. I found it helpful to have colored bandanas for each person's head to help keep the teams staight. When moving to a new square, any team player can move. They do not have to go in the same order that they started.

'Removing Sin'

Written by
This game is a bit of a messy race, which can involve many kids as you like... we normally have 2 competing at a time but it doesn't really matter. The competitors sit at a table - cover with garbage bags to avoid mess - with their hands behind their back, and a small tub of yoghurt or custard each. (It works best if it is white, eg. vanilla). Hide some red M&Ms or smarties in the tub, and the race is for the first person to remove the M&Ms from the yoghurt without using their hands! It's a fun game, and can be given added meaning by its relevance to sin: Jesus removes the sin (red) from our hearts, leaving them clean (white) again. NB. depending on how long the M&Ms are in the tub, they can leave behind a bit of a pink stain after you take them out. This is ok, because you can explain that even when Jesus removes our sin and forgives us, sometimes there is still a reminder of it left in us, eg. the consequence of something we've done. To avoid it completely, however, try using red lollies instead which don't leave colour behind.
